Mat Starnes-Carson specializes in ART!

After high school, Mat crossed the Texas-Louisiana border to study fine arts at McNeese State University with the goal of building a strong foundation for a career in tattooing. They earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design and met their wife while they were there. They later made Lake Charles home and built a life centered around art, family, and community.

​

Mat is also very attached to the four-legged members of the family: Ghüs, Buffy, Smaug, and Gandalf the Grey.

Tattooing is personal to Mat. They see it as a form of self-care and a way for people to feel more comfortable in their own skin. Being a human is hard, and if something Mat creates helps someone feel a little better about themselves, that matters to them.

​

Mat works in American Traditional, Neo-Traditional, full color, and black and grey, but they enjoy working in a wide range of styles. Their portfolio includes large pieces, small tattoos, cover-ups, sentimental work, and plenty in between.

​

Some of their favorite tattoos are the nerdy, silly, goofy, oddball ones. If it makes someone laugh when they see it, Mat is probably into it.
